Second factory Bangladesh

In 2017, we made preparations for our expansion project in Bangladesh. In 2018, we started building  our second high-end FIBC production facility with a new, 4,000 m2, state-of-the-art cleanroom,  resulting in a 50% capacity increase and creating at least 600 extra high-quality jobs. We are  incredibly proud to share with you that construction has been completed and that the new  factory is operational, as of January 2019. The entire facility is of food safe and pharma clean production standard. The first 230 employees are already hired and trained. Watch this beautiful  drone video of the construction site in May 2018. In addition to these investments, in 2018, we also  invested 160K in new stitching machines, cutting machines and a bale press for our production  location in South Africa – LC Shankar. LC Packaging and long-term partner Shankar Packagings  from India are partners in this project in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.

Investments in machinery in Belgium

In 2018, LC Packaging Belgium invested approx. 330K in new machinery: two  additional H&S machines (Heiber & Schröder) for gluing and nesting cardboard punnets. This is to  keep up with the expected growth in the market of cardboard trays in 2019. The demand for plastic  packaging is under pressure in retail. There is a great demand for sustainable packaging and  thus cardboard punnets. Besides that, LC Packaging Belgium invested in an extra Mibox  D20H machine for machine erected boxes. This machine offers more possibilities for SRP (Shelf  Ready Packaging) and RRP (Retail Ready Packaging) in the context of 'single facing'. This machine allows us to erect boxes with a smaller width (up to 14.5 cm) in combination with the  desired length. This need arose because of a battle for shelf space. This type of packaging is mainly  used in the fresh food section in supermarkets. Together with our production partner in  corrugated cardboard and shareholder, Pacapime, who announced new investments in flat bed die-cutting and 7-colour printing for 2019 and 2020, we see a bright future in erecting boxes.

Investments by Production Partners

Our long-term Indonesian partner Indo Cali Plast invested in a new extruder producing monofilament yarns. With the help of this new extruder, we can offer our customers Mono X Tape Bags, mainly popular in the Spanish and French market, in addition to the regular Tape X Tape bags.

Our valued partner Plastipak invested in an 8-colour, high-quality printing machine, which will be installed in March 2019. This printer will upgrade the overall quality and presentation of our leno bags, which are used not only for onions and potatoes, but also for nuts, firewood, oranges, flower bulbs and shell fish, and even used in the building industry. So a bag for many purposes!
