Capacity Extension

In an effort to meet the ever increasing demand for FIBCs in Southern Africa, our FIBC production facility LC Shankar completed phase one of its capacity extension programme. An entire shift has been added to the staffing complement, resulting in around 65 new jobs. Capacity has thus been increased from around 60t per month to 120t per month with minimal capital investment. Demand continues to increase and phase 2 of the expansion project is in the final stages of its viability study, which will be presented early in Q1 2018 and which promises to be very exciting and will take us past the 200t output mark.

Investments

Pacapime, our Corrugated Cardboard production location in Halle, Belgium invested over €10 million in the latest Bobst Flatbed die cutter with 6-colour printing. This latest Bobst flatbed technology became fully operational in 2016 and in 2017 provided us with the necessary advantage in the corrugated board market. The de-inking installation has been completely renewed since the end of 2017 and is expected to be fully operational by March 2018. The aim of this de-inking installation is the reuse of waste water by feeding the recuperated water back into our operations.

In 2017 we made preparations to start our Expansion Project in Bangladesh. In 2018 we will start building our 2nd high-end FIBC production facility with a new, 4,000 m2, state-of-the-art cleanroom, resulting in a 50% capacity increase and creating at least 600 extra high-quality jobs.

The entire facility will be of food safe and pharma clean production standard. On 29 August 2017, the foundation stone of this expansion project was laid in a ceremony, honoured by the presence of the Dutch Ambassador to Bangladesh, H.E. Ms Leoni Cuelenaere.
